Skin ©2024 Amy D
1st Panel- Bug Boy & Seymour in a parking lot next to the beach. Seymour is carrying a towel, folding chair, & surfboard and ready to go. Bug Boy is still rummaging through the trunk of the Bug Mobile.
Bug Boy: Did you pack extra sunscreen?
Seymour: No.I didn't even know bugs could get sunburn?
2nd Panel- An ant hill with lots of ants coming and going. The sun is beating down from above.
Bug Boy (off camera): Most bugs that are outside during the day have dark exoskeletons with Melanin that protect them from harmful rays.
3rd Panel- A turquoise dragonfly doing what look like a handstand perched on a twig.
Bug Boy (off camera): Some bugs, like dragonflies, will even perch themselves upright doing something called obelisking, that helps to block most of their bodies from the sun when it gets too intense.
Final Panel- Bug Boy holding a bottle of SPF sunscreen while rubbing it into his arm holding the bottle with the other.
Bug Boy: But bugs like us, that are nocturnal or grew up underground, have very delicate skin and need to protect ourselves any way we can.
Narration Box: May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month
